For the Hams in the group or those who have done JOTA before -
1. How do you do your JOTA events? Do you set up a field operation, go
to a club site, use someone's home base?
2. What ages do you include? Last year AI8Z (hubby) and I had my den at
the house. These Wolfs were too shy to talk much, but big brothers who
were Webelos came and they enjoyed it a lot. Also, big sister who was a
GS (probably same age as Webelo boys). The Scouts sure were anxious to
talk with Ashley!
3. Hubby is tentatively planning to have some talk on the Radio, while
some use Packet (new for us this year) and I had thought we might have
some chatting on the Internet - the JOTI portion. Someone on Scouts-L
mentioned in the past that there was some Net activity. Could you
elaborate and give me some suggestions on how to set that up. I did
(once) manage to get into IRC Chat but didn't know what I was doing. Did
Scouts-L do anything?
Would this be better as a Pack activity? Just a Den? Last year we made
"family appointments" on both Saturday and Sunday at our home.
BTW, JOTA stands for Jamboree on the Air (read this months Boys Life).
