There is nothing wrong with the "good ol' boy (or girl)" network per se. As
long as they are willing to welcome new people and not freeze them out it
can be the best way to do it. It's only when they become a clique that
there are problems.
This is not a problem only in training or in Scouting; it can happen in any
group, organization, or church. Welcoming the newcomer can be very hard
sometimes, but it's something we all need to do constantly.
