Just a little notice to express the sorrow of losing a Friend, a fellow
Scouter and Arrowman, David Lavergne. He was an SA from our
District('Arrowhead', over here in NH). He fell to his death sometime last
week, near the Bohler Glacier in British Columbia. Details are still sketchy.
He was on an excursion with 4 young man who had become Eagle Scouts in his
unit. No they are not youth members.
Dave and I first got to know one another when the Venture Program was first
put into place. We used to have a lot of discussion on what our respective
Crews (different units) did and what we would like to see the Scouts do.
Dave's love was the oudoors and hiking, and climbing. He always put the
youth first in whatever he did and that is why he earned my respect. He
challenged his crews and they responded. He was proud of them when they would
make the correct decisions. Such as turning back, if going forward was to
The Scouts in his unit are really going to miss him, never mind we adults and
other youth who knew him. I'm sure that he is in WB heaven.
Thanks for listening.
YIS (today it's 'Sorrow')
