Here in the United Kingdom our Headquarters International Department is
in touch with the people at the Foreign Office who issue travel advisory
information to travellers. Presumably BSA National Office has similar
contacts with the US government agencies. If you check with your Council
office a few days before departure they can advise you on the latest risk
assessment, but barring another Dessert Storm I imagine the word will be
to wear the field uniform.
When I took British kids to USA we had special teeshirts made as " activity
uniform " and the kids wore them under their uniform shirt. On the plane
they wore the teeshirt, and put their uniform shirts on when they were
about to land. We had 150 Scouts hit New York airport, and it made quite
an impression to have those kids looking smart.
