The Advancement Procedures book (#33088) on page 9, states that there is no
prohibition on counselling your own son on merit badges. Many units modify
this to prevent it. Depends on your unit's policy and what you feel is best
for your son. In order to maintain the best objectivity, and most effective
fairness to you son, if another counsellor is available, I'd use the other
counsellor. If not, no reason why you should not do the job.
Hope this helps!
