I really cannot understand why folks get so wound about about what sort
of " critter " they were. I thought the idea of leader training was to
enable us as Leaders to provide a better service to young people. What
does it matter what the name of the patrol was ? I enjoyed Wood Badge course
because of the <people> I met, not just my own patrol or tutor group. It would
have been the same experience had we been called Aadvarks, Gorillas or
even Patrol 23B/4. What patrol you end up in is fairly random in any case.
Surely what matters is that we are part of a group of individuals who have
prepared themselves to serve youth by undertaking training. If you genuinely
think that just because you happen to be allocated to a patrol with a label
" Bears " makes you in some way superior to the other equally dedicated
leaders on your course in other patrols, you have missed the purpose of
Wood Badge. If not, why waste bandwidth ?
