Jerry Geiger has asked that I make this information availble to this
news group. The original announcement is not really created for inclusion
in a mail message so I will exercise a bit of editor's license and make
every attempt to get all the required information into something that
will deal with suich things as mailers :)
I was a participant in the last Sabbath Observant Wood Badge and I can
attest to the high quality of the course and to the skill of the very
dedicated staff in making it all happen. Jerry will be the Director of
this course and those of you who know him understand that this will be
a _class act_.
What: A _Religious_ observant Wood Badge Course
When: August 17-27, 1998
Where: Camp Siwanoy, Wingdale, NY
Who: Sponsored by the Northeast Region
This course is designed to accommodate the religious needs of the Traditional
Jewish, LDS, Christian and Islamic faiths. In additon, it will attempt to
accommodate anyone else who feels a need for formal training and cannot, for
whatever reason, fit their schedule or religous obligatons around the demands
of a more traditonal Wood Badge Course.
Time for organized religious observances for the three communities will be made
Islamic: 5 times daily and noon to 3:00 PM on Friday.
Jewish: 3 times daily and 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday.
Christian: Daily masses and 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Sunday.
No formal training sessions will take place from Friday afternoon until
after nightfall on Saturday to accommodate participants and staff of the
Dietary needs of both the Islamic and Jewish faiths wil be met and, in addition,
vegetarian meals will be provided upon request.
