Daniel Hornick was looking for Council offices in London and the UK.
You will find that many Scouting associations have not the equivalent of a
Scout Council office as it is known in the US. Most countries have far
fewer professionals and rely much more heavily on volunteers to run and
administer the program.
For example, I happened to stumble upon the Scout County office in
Nottingham a couple of years back. Literally... if it wasn't for the Scout
emblem I saw outside the door, while wandering on a side street, I would have
never found it. It seemed to be staffed by only one clerical person.
If no one responds with specific addresses to your request, you may want to
search the phone books in the major cities during your stay for addresses.
The Headquarters for the UK Scout Association is at the Baden-Powell House
in London. I do not have the address memorized, but surely someone will
post it. There is a hostel there as well where lodging is available at
In London, there is a large Scout shoppe across from the Royal Mews at
Buckingham Palace. The ground floor is devoted largely to camping gear. Go
to the rear of the store and down the stairs to the uniforms, supplies,
literature, and patches. While going down the stairs, notice all the
patches displayed on the wall - many from the BSA. This shoppe claims to
be the world's oldest Scout shoppe.
Also... There is a Girl Guide shop in the same block, only a few doors away
from the Buckingham Palace Scout Shoppe. I am told it is worth a visit if
you have interest in Girl Scouts or Girl Guides.
