We just did a 40 km (25 mile) bike hike with our Scouts last Sunday and all
the boys were able to easily do it (the leaders had a much harder time than
any of the Scouts). Our troop is currently made up of first year Scouts
(aged 11) and some of boys who just came up from Cubs (aged 10/11), so they
are about the same age as your Webelos.
The terrain was fairly flat, and we took it at a very leisurely pace leaving
at about 9:15, stopping at noon for lunch, and arriving back at about 3:30.
We did stop a number of times along the way. Each boy carried a day pack
with their lunch, trail snacks, and water for the trip. Also divided among
the boys were a bike pump, tire patches, and a few tools (luckily we did not
have to use any of it).
