Yes, Girl Scouts salute the flag by putting their hands over
their hearts. I found this an adjustment when I moved from
Boy Scouts to Girl Scouts but the girl scout hand sign is only
used for saying the Promise and Law and in ceremonies when awards
are presented and the sign is held up with the right and the left
is used to shake the receipents hand. The hand over the heart
is also in preparation of saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I
am at work and am unable to provide the history or rational
but wanted to get a response to you.
For those of you who do/have done boy/cub/girl scouting it is
always fun to try to remember ok, what am I today. Do I use
two fingers, three fingers, bent elbow, straight up elbow or
right angle elbow. Scouting is so much fun!
