After reading some of the other versions of Flea, I realize that I left out
some things. Borrowing from Lisa Varner and Kim Jarvis, I now think it goes,
Flea Fly Flo!
Coo-ma-la, Coo-ma-la, Coo-ma-la Vista
Oh no-no, no, not the vista
Eenie, meenie, decimeenie, oo walla walla meenie!
Ex a meenie, zoll a meenie, oo walla wall!
Beep billy ott in dotten oh bo ba beaten dotten shh!
Another song that I've been trying to remember is the "Great big gobs of
greasy grimy gopher guts" song. Someone asked about that on rec.scouting
once, I added what I thought were some of the words, but didn't get back to
the newsgroup for awhile to see what others had added. But it stuck in me,
and I can't figure it out. You can email me if you think the group is tired
of hearing different versions of old songs.
I do find it interesting that, even though we are of all different ages, from
different parts of the country (or even different parts of the world - I
don't know if this was known internationally), we sang various songs that we
still remember years later. (Or do the kids still sing these kinds of things
- I've always been involved at the Committee level, with less direct
involvement with the boys themselves and I don't have any daughters.) There
are slight variations, but that's understandable due to the "whisper down the
lane" effect. Or are some of these written in song books that I just haven't
Oh well, thanks for refreshing the memory.
