My troop does the same - we include the subscription in the dues. We
state this when boys join. We also feel it is important to have Boys
Life in the home. Sometimes we do make a concession for brothers. If a
family requests only one copy of the magazine, we reduce the dues for the
brother(s) and subscribe for only one member of the family. That option
has been rarely used. Most boys want their own copy, so our default is
to provide to all registered members. For those concerned about the 100%
ribbon, you still earn it if the magazine gets to 100% of the
households. We get the ribbon, but it is not really that much of a big
deal. We are more concerned about the boys getting the magazine.
Compared to most other magazines, Boys Life is a real bargain on price!
