Not acceptable! I do not believe that money from a District/Council
event should be run through a Troop Treasury. I believe that would
be called "Laundering Money". Remember, technically speaking, the
troop treasury is the property of the Chartered Organization. If it
is a district event, money should be run through the district and
appropriated via the proper channel. Use the budget process. Budget
all income and expenditures and if you wish to make camp
improvements, place it within the budget. And so what if a little
money is made? Is that all that wrong? I would rather make a nice
amount of money on an event, then be so close to budget that I have
to nickle and dime things.
Don't get me wrong. I do not always agree with how the BSA spends
their money. If I were spending the money, I would get a new
computer system down at National for starters. However, I am sure if
anyone looked at how I spent my money personally, there would
probably be some criticisms also.
Remember, this is IMHO!
