What about the family that either does not want or cannot afford such a
donation or does not desire BL?
Personally, if I was a parent in a troop or pack that was so presumptuous as
to "require" these things in an attempt to get a danged ribbon for their
flag, apparently operating under the belief that few would subscribe or
pledge unless forced to, implying (to me) the magazine is not *worth*
having, I would take my child and self and leave ASAP for a different unit
if at all possible. It's a matter of principle to me.
I cannot in good conscience suggest to the leadership of my units that they
do this. Just my opinion, obviously YMMV.
