One point seems to be lost in this exhaustive discussion of beltloops
To earn any beltloop, the Scout must "do his best" to read &
understand the book covering the beltloop. Without reading the book,
the boy doesn't earn the beltloop. Therefore:
The back of the book says," I earned my belt loop by doing my best to learn
about the things in this book AND..."
Emphasis on the word "learn" nothing says the boy has to read the book,
otherwise my son Michael will never earn one. He is low IQ and isn't reading
well enough to understand these book, which are not written on an 8 year-olds
level anyway. If the lessons in the book are taught at Day Camp, etc. That
is good enough!
Tigers, in the materials I've read so far, will still not be eligible for this
program. It must wait upon their graduation to the Bobcat/Wolf den. (But not
their completion of any rank. This is not a rank connected program.)
