Hello Fellow Scouters!!
Well, in about 48 hours I will be on my way to Philmont for PowWow
Leadership training. I am very excited!! I have wanted to go to
Philmont since I was about 14. Now I get my chance.
I do have one or two questions for those of you who are experienced
with this wonderful place.
I have seen mail that stated that we should bring items for trade or
gifts. Is this traditional, or something off the beaten path? I have
never traded patches, even though I am in the OA. I like to keep the
few patches I do get. To go out and buy a bunch is a bit tough.
Next, I will be renting a car. I would like to know where to go around
Philmont to get pictures. I ask this because my Scoutmaster and I are
taking a group of Scouts next year to Philmont for a trek, and they all
would like to see what it looks like. I would like to get pictures of
the mountains and what the general atmosphere is like.
I look forward to this time. I try to use these experiences to renew my
committment to Scouting and to my God. I have experienced a greater love
for all when I am in the outdoors, and in particular in the mountains.
They help renew my spirit.
