someone (sorry, forgot who), posted a question about ideas for Scout Olympics
with their troop.
for one of our summetime activities, we had all the kids (siblings included),
do the President's Fitness Challenge. many years ago when i was in elementary
school, this was part of our P.E. course. they don't do this in texas.
anyway, it has changed from when i was a kid. there are three levels of
award, including a participant patch of the kids try but don't succeed in
completing the test within certain parameters for their age group. this
is one reason why we decided to do this..everyone was assured to get an
award and also complete physical fitness beltloop (along with some rank
requirements that we threw in).
if anyone is interested...let me know and i'll get you the address.
it took about 2 weeks to get the awards in, they stated it may take
several weeks. guess we got lucky. i'll be handing out the awards in our
august pack meeting.
