Q: Our troop has been on several fine historical hikes,
Vicksburg & Shiloh. Now where do they wear the hiking
medals that they received?
A: May I suggest that your scouts make themselves red
wool award vests, like the ones sold in the BSA
Catalog. They could wear as many medals as they
want, on say the left-hand-side of it and could sew
all their hiking, camporee and other patches on
the right-hand-side and back of it.
In the old days of scouting we use to call these
red vests and jackets "Brag Rags"! Sound familiar.
In Pack 6, our Cub Scouts earn Hiking Medals too. These
medals are presented for Hiking the Historic Witch Trail
Committee trails of New England. They published a great
hiking book with detailed trail descriptions and trail maps.
Plus they sell pewter hiking medals and hiking patches as
awards for any youth group.
I hope my reply helps you some.
