Ron's post on this really hit home. My wife and I just "took over" my
son's scout pack. Most of the committee and leaders all left in May and
announced that the pack was folding. They blew the money in the account
on the graduation ceremony, 1200 bucks for a catered dinner for 20 boys
and their families. My wife has taken over as CC and I am the Webelos
leader. I have 1 year experience as an assistant leader, but the leader
hardly ever showed up last year so I learned by trial and error.
Our Cubmaster showed up for 1 meeting and I never saw him again all year.
We have managed to get the Committee together and have rounded up some
leaders but I still need Tiger and Wolf leaders.
This was a great pack when we joined 2 years ago and I don't know what
happened this past year. The whole thing fell apart after the leaders
found out that the CC was stealing money from the scout fund and she
was terminated. Her husband then left also and the whole thing went down.
I don't understand why I can't get any Bear or Wolf families to help.
The Bears and Webelos families are here for everything and they are
I have changed the monthly meetings to one. Committee and leaders all
meet together and work things out. This is different than the way it
was, with a Committee meeting then a leaders meeting, then another
leader prep meeting etc. Does this sound feasable?
I am new at this and feel I've gotten in over my head but the Church
that is our sponsor has been very helpful.
