I thought I would share our itinerary for travel to and from Sommers Canoe
Base in case anyone wants to stand by the road and wave--or stop in for an
evening chat. We'll have at least three people from the list on the trip.
For the most part, travel will be on I-35. Look for two vans and a pickup
--we won't be in convoy but we'll probably be in the same general area at
any given time. Stops are all planned for camps where I was on staff--
several years ago!!
Wednesday, July 17
7 a.m. departure from Stillwater, OK
3 p.m. anticipated arrival at Camp Geiger near St. Joseph, MO. We'll
have dinner in the dining hall and participate in the visitor's
night campfire. Camp is providing lodging and I'll celebrate the
40th anniversary of my first camp staff position as an assistant
in the handicraft area. Just remembered that the fellow I worked
for was from Oklahoma State University where we are now. What a
Thursday, July 18
7:30 a.m. breakfast in dining hall and then off to Stillwater, MN
5 p.m. anticipated arrival at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp. Todd Tingblad
has already provided hints about getting around construction in
the Twin Cities area. We'll cook our own supper that night.
Staying in Peterson I on upper level (Cub day camp on lower level).
(Visit to Minnesota Science Museum still under consideration.)
Friday, July 19
7 a.m. breakfast and off to Ely.
Monday, July 29
heading home with stop that night at Mitigwa Scout Camps near Boone,
IA. We'll have dinner in dining hall if we arrive in time! Camp is
Tuesday, July 30
7:30 a.m. breakfast in dining hall and then off to Stillwater, OK. We hope
to be home around 8 that night.
