My daughter is a new brownie, and joined her troop last fall. She
appears to be having a good time, but apparently the leadership of the
troop only solicits new members once a year, and then it is done very
quietly. They don't want the troop to get too big, you see. I must say,
I have never understood this idea. I think a large troop in the boy
scouts is terrific!
Anyway, I don't think the GSA has a once-a-year policy for joining, and
if you miss it, too bad. However, I think there are some units (in the
BSA too, for that matter), that have adopted such a policy, either
explicitly or implicitly.
