Ransburg Scout Camp is among the most beautiful camps you'll ever see.
Of course I'm not prejudiced, having been on the staff there in 1972. :-)
From Dayton Ohio it probably would be a lot faster to take I-70 to
Indianapolis and then go South on State Highway 37 to Bloomington. In
Bloomington take State Highway 46 East out of town. Just on the edge of
town take Route 446 South across the causeway. Just on the other side of
the causeway keep a sharp lookout until you see the Ransburg Sign. From
there its a bit of a drive back into the camp, which is about 600-800
acres and surrounded by Hoosier National Forest. The camp is on the
Monroe Resevoir, Indiana's largest inland lake.
On the way home do take State Highway 46 East to Columbus. On the way
you will pass Brown County State Park and a wonderful little town called
Nashville, which has plenty of great home cooking and a few attractions
including the John Dillinger Museum (Chicago Gangster of the '30s). BTW
Brown County State Park is a great place to visit in the fall when the
foliage is in color.
Hope you have a wonderful trip.
