Denver Area also has a more rugged camp up north somewhere. Visited once
but don't remember much more. Either would be good choices.
I just returned from camp at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch. The younger members of
our troop participated in the regular summer camp, and the older boys
attended the newly opened Elkhorn High Adventure camp at BDSR. The program
is brand new (they piloted the program for 2 weeks last summer, this is their
first summer in full operation), and there are a few bugs to work out, but
all in all, it was a great experience. They offer backpacking above and
below the timberline (11,000ft), white water rafting, COPE, reppeling, rock
climbing (go up the left face, it's easier), and an all around good time.
