I must add to what Mike Walton has already said...
I have been most pleased with the acceptance and help I have received on
SCOUTS-L when I have brought up Girl Scout specific issues. Those who can
help do, and others just try to understand. Sharing is a two-way street.
The bible talks all about man, but I still read the book knowing God loves
me too. The Boy Scout leaders (both male and female) face all the same
problems we do when it comes to working with our kids. The only
difference is policies, and Girl Scouts varies greatly between councils,
so what's the difference?
We have the same human relation problems, differences of opinions,
problems with authority and council rules. We all go to camp, have fun,
sing the same songs and swat the same mosquitoes (i bought the Deep Woods
Off!). We all deal with how to incorporate new and innovative programs
and learning experiences.
As a girl scout leader this list has helped me with games, songs, a
shoulder when I needed it. They have helped me buy hiking boots and learn
the best way to care for them. They have shared knots (my hammock will
hang this weekend!), and crafts (the Hawaian shell craft was a big hit, and
program ideas (ok, I took the girls to the mall against my better judgement).
Everyone here is more than willing to help. Through this list I have also
met some wonderful people I consider my friends. These people have values
that you don't find anywhere else on the net and with this they have
injected humor and compassion when someone has needed it.
If you need to discuss anything at all, just ask. There will be someone
here who is interested. I am interested in what you have to say. Please,
we hope you stay around and post!
