Well, our Troop is off to Gettysburg next week. I just thought I
check to see if there were any suggestions, caveats, or "must-see"
things we might be overlooking or is this schedule too much already? I
haven't been there but I'm sure many of you have and I'd appreciate
any words of wisdom from the group.
Here's our game plan:
Sun. 7/14 - Travel,leave Lowell, MA @ 7AM. Arrive Gettysburg 4-5PM
Mon. 7/15 - Sign up for electric map, Eisenhower farm, Cyclorama
Visit: site of Gettysburg Address, National Tower and hike
3.5 mi. Johnny Reb trail. Then to the YMCA for
Tue. 7/16 - Hike 9 mi. Billy Yank Trail,Eternal Light Peace
Memorial,Gen.Lee's HQ,Eisenhower farm,YMCA.
Wed. 7/17 - Visit Antietam Battlefield (~ 1.5 hr. trip ea. way). Back
to Gettysburg for supper and then to YMCA.
Thu. 7/18 - Leave Gettysburg(not to return)and go to Hershey for a
visit to Chocolate World and Founder's Hall. Head for a
tour of the Energy Information Canter in Berwick. At about
4:30, head for campsite at West Point area. Set up camp
and go for dinner (~7PM).
Fri. 7/19 - West Point tour until ~1 PM . Head for home.
So,what do you think?
BTW, while in Gettysburg, we'll be at the McMillan Woods Camp. If
you're in the area, drop by and say hello.
