My suggestion would be to go for the open weave BSA baseball cap. Everybody
should have access to purchasing one, there is no fuzz about design, color,
or collecting money, and they look sharp when the whole unit wears them. I
suggest the open-weave due to its lightness (I'm guessing the course is in
the summer or early fall).
I would stay away from the campaign hat due to its cost (about $65 if I
remember correctly and that is without the hatband and emblem). Although
berets and custom designed baseball caps can be affordable, the effort in
getting together the money from everybody and getting the hat designed is
much and the Wood Badge course is very busy to begin with. Adding this
effort might be a bit much.
OTOH, if you want to organize such an effort geared more to the graduation
from the first part of Wood Badge (if you are doing a week end course), this
might be more doable.
