I have had great success in waterproofing a canvas military tent using
Thompson's Waterseal or the Ace Hardware equivalent. I pitched the tent,
tightened it up, and put the product on with a paint roller. Until the
solvent is dry it is quite flamable. [Don't know how flamable it is dry].
When the solution is wet on the tent, the fumes are quite strong, so you
probably want to apply the sealer at a time when no one is living in the tent.
