All that sounds good but it is not what Philmont Rangers or adult leader
sessions tell you. But if it works for your group, great. There is and
always should be flexibility in these things. On all other trips we have
taken, we participate at the level needed to make it successful. At Philmont
the emphasis is on the crew members that are not adult leaders taking on
the responsibility for each other and to the extent you take away from that,
it is my personal opinion that the purpose is being foiled. I do what
Philmont tells me to do. In a cohesive group, one made up solely by members
of one unit or people who know each other well, I suspect that your approach
makes the best sense. It sounds to me as if that is what your situation is.
