The Rocky Mountains are full of what you are looking for, and well within
your parameters. If you have ground transportation, why not consider
a 50 mile one-way. This is very do-able all along the Colorado Trail.
Depending on group size, our troops maybe could do a joint hike. We will be
on the CT (colorado trail for a week long trek starting Monday 6/24.
Another option is combine a hike with climbing a 14'er (14000 foot peak).
I can provide more information if you want.

Subject: Looking for Backpacking Treks
I am posting this message for a friend. He is looking for a 50-mile
backpacking trek for the troop. His requirements are as follows:
700-800 miles from Oklahoma City
Ample water supply
Use of backpacking stoves
25 miles in and 25 miles out
Scenery other than the flat plains of central Oklahoma
Thanks in advance for your suggestions for my electronically challenged
