The SPL and ASPL are supposed to go back to participating in
their patrols via the BSA Troop Operations "Plan". This is not
to be construed as a demotion. These boys have been given an
opportunity to lead the whole Troop, and now can go back to their
patrols to practice what they have learned, not only about
leadership.... but about "followership" too. Having "been there"
they can set great examples for the "rank and file" to support the
new SPL and ASPL.
Venture programs are a good way to give them and extra bit
of incentive and invalvment. But I would try to emphasize that
they are not being demoted.
2 cents worth..... : )
