A lot of the replys on this subject have mentioned DEET. I have read (but
don't remember where) that DEET is not good for kids under about 10 or
so--it is a powerful chemical. Also, some of us can't use it. I was
getting bad headaches at campouts and eventually I realized that it was the
bug spray I was using--lots of DEET.
For the last 5 years or so I have been using repellent with citronella.
It's safer to use and smells better.
In the April issue of Backpacker magazine they rated bug repellents. page 68.
