Thanks to all who commented on my questions, both on the list and
privately. Your responses prompt me to make a few comments:
1. We are part of a "cluster," i.e., a number of contiguous councils get
together and rotate sponsorship of the course so no one council does it
2. For those who can not afford to use vacation time we offer a letter to
their employers explaining the course and its general value as leadership
training and testimonial letters from corporations. We then ask that the
employee be given release time to take the course. We also, unabashedly,
ask the company to pay for the course!
3. It has been my experience that those who took the week-end course swear
by it and vice versa. The problem in making a comparison is that no one
has taken both as a student -- or, at least, they shouldn't have because
the syllabus assumes no prior knowledge of what is to happen. Even if
someone did take it twice, the second experience would be so different as
to obviate any valid comparison.
Again, thanks for the response.
