Our Webelos leaders got together and decided to visit three
troops out of the dozen or so possibilities. We felt that
that was about the limit of what we could expect the parents
We visited a large troop, a medium sized troop, and a small
troop. Gee, this is starting to sound like Goldilocks :-)
Each troop's program had a different 'flavor' and emphasized
different areas are were more, or less, boy-run. We did this
to let our guys see the differences and to let them decide where
they would feel the most comfortable. It was more important to
us that they would be staying in Scouting rather than having them
join a particular troop.
But the best thing we did was spend some time with these troops
at a camporee. That turned out to be the critial information for
our guys. I'd recommend spending some "tent time" also.
Just my two cents worth...
