Hello Fellow Scouters:
I am a rather new ASM in a troop, and we are going to summer camp in a
couple of weeks. We have one scout that has some emotional problems, and I
am concernec about taking him to camp with us. During the spring camporee in
April he tried ti run away from us. I happen to see him walking through the
woods with his back pack and gear, and caught him. I told me he hated scouts
and was going to quit. Well, he has not been to a single scout meeting since
then, and I assumed he had quit (hoping).
Tonight, he shows up, with his negative attitude, wanting to know about
camp. He said he had paid his $20 deposit in March, and had reserved a slot
to go. Our Comm. Chairman wants to let him go, but I have some fears about
his behavior. If something does happen at camp, does the BSA provide us
leaders with some type of liability insurance? That is a bog concern with
this law suit crazy socirty we live in.
Does anybody have any info about this?
