2 and 3 summers ago, I suffered from the effects of drinding unpurified
water. The water was purified though by boiling, or Iodine. Since then
I have purchased and carried a Pur filter. If you can get the first need
fileter to work, great, take it on the trip. It is true that the first
need filter clogs easily, and generally don't last long.
I reccomend that you purchase a Pur filter. They come in many sizes, and
degrees of filtration. I have the Scout model, since I know what giardia feels
like. It is not fun having to go to the latrine that has not been
cleaned for over a month, but heavilly used, at 12:00 at night.
