Is there more than one Troop in your town or, if not, in a nearby town? You
might want to consolidate lists and share with them.
For about 10 years now I have kept a list of counselors for use by the 4
(now 5) Troops in town and for those in neighboring towns. Each SM recruits
counselors among their parents and friends. We have counselors listed for
about 80 of the Badges; as always my goal is complete coverage.
Remember, the purpose of the Merit Badge program is not just to earn the 21
Badges needed for Eagle. Scouts should be able to explore possible careers
& hobbies. As was stated in a previous posting, the MB program gives them
experience in calling up strangers and asking them to be a counselor (when I
say "strangers" I meen someone on the Counselor list that the Scout does not
