Were it me, I'd try to pump some water through the filter. If there's
LOTS of resistance, the filter is probably plugged, and its time to
replace (I don't think the First Need stuff can be backwashed/cleaned).
If there isn't a lot of resistance, put some food coloring in water, and
try to pump it through. If the food coloring stays behind, you can be
pretty sure there aren't any "channels" through the filter. If you see
color in the output, put it in the trash.
$70 for a First Need? I thot they were about half that.
