OA elections and long term camp

A question to the collective about the OA elections and the "Long Term"
In the rules I have read: "including 6 consecutive days and nights of
long term camping,". In our council summer camp is from Sun to Sat morning.
On Friday night there is a big Family Dinner for everyone to enjoy. The
traveling distance for the families to the camp can vary from 30 minutes to
almost 2 hours. It is not uncommon for the scout families traveling on
the "longer" side to all go home following the Dinner rather than have to
repeat the trip the following morning.
This is the source of my question: Can the boys who leave on Friday
following dinner still meet the "6 consecutive days and nights"
requirement? They have been there for 6 Days, Sun - Fri, but only for 5
nights, Sun - Thur.
Should I as SM tell everyone who are "hopefuls" that they have to stay
over on Friday night and their parent have to pick them up on Saturday?
The camp ranks are pretty much depleted come Saturday morning, we often
have *much* smaller lines at the flag raising.

When I was younger, kids learned to count backward like this:
..5..4..3..2..1..Blastoff, "We have lift off!".
Now a days its like this:
..5..4..3..2..1..Beeeep, "Hey, the popcorn's done in the microwave !"
