That was from, I believe if I recieved the information correctly, the
Citizen of the Year Dinner in the Los Angeles Area Council. Ms. Alley is a
member of the LAAC's Council Executive Board.
The "Citizen of the Year" program is an optional program that many urban
Councils use (Chicago and New York City Councils have them as well) to honor
famous people in the community that have performed "Scout-like" work in
or career, and is an excuse to raise additional funding for a special
project or program within the Council. The Citizen of the Year program in
LAAC funds the in-school Scouting,
Hispanic Scouting, Learning for Life and Career Awareness Exploring programs
in that local Council.
It was a glizy showcase for Scouting....a few years back Bob Hope was the
reciepent and the place was literally packed I was told, and the Council
raised well over a half-million bucks with that one event.

So they never DID decide on that, huh??? I was following it a
couple of years back when I "lived" on the other end of town.

*laughter* This guy is a real bozo...doesn't he know that people will react
and stand on the KID'S side more than his side of things?? He's assured
himself more trouble than he
already has with trying to develop the property. Just wait until his
appearance at the zoning meeting!!
