I just thought I would let anyone who would like to know, that on May 17
-19 our council will be having a council widw scout - o rama. we are
expecting btw. 5000 and 7500 people to attend from our council and beyond.
Anyone who wishes to attend may do so. There will be camping available
for troops, and families of scouters and non scouters alike. it is an
event modeled after the Jamboree. we are planning an Indian village
complete with dancers and lodgeing. An area devoted to model camping and
pioneering as well as a whole bunch of activities through out the day
sponsered by the military and the local community.
The event is free, yes FREE. That is correct to camp is free, the
entrence is free, and all you pay for is your meals. There will be food
vendors selling afordable priced meals. And entertainment galore.
The event is taking place at the Kankakee County Fairgrounds in
Kankakee Ill. For those of you who do not know where to find Kankakee, it
is located approx. 60 miles south of Chicago on I-57. It is about an hour
away but a world apart.
If you would like any more info or have questions feel free to
write and ask. Have a nice day folks.
