It's called a campaign hat--dates back to BP. I believe it was standard
army (both British and American) ca 1890s - WWI.

Your local Library may have price guides to used books (Bookman's Price
Index is very good but time-consuming to use). There also used to be a
price guide to Scouting collectibles--don't know if it is still
published--my copy is at least 10 years old. If all else fails check with a
used book dealer in any fair-sized city.
