First things first. I hope these cub scouts are webelos. Those are the
only cub scouts that are permitted to go camping. The one loop hole is
that this is a family camping trip, not backed by the scouts.
Okay, now that I did my legal sermon, an answer to your question. YES THE
BOYS SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN MEAL PREPARATION. Of course adult supervision
is needed. Now what can the cubs do. Foil dinners make a great supper. I
even had Tigers do this for one of their big events. Cubs can make
sandwiches for lunch. Breakfast would be a challenge. But oatmeal can be
made by cubs. This is only a few examples.
