I'm crossposting this to both Scouts-L and Arrow-L, as both have
a high concentration of Boy/Girl Scouting leaders. If you belong to another
Scouting forum that have members using the USENET NEWS feature, please pass
this posting along to that forum.
As of today, there is an CALL FOR VOTES to determine the future
direction of the Rec.Scouting area on USENET. This has followed
three Requests for Discussions about the various proposed topic
areas and 117 total days of discussion about the possibility of
splitting the existing group to more functional areas (or as
I stated, "conference areas or rooms") or leaving things the
way they have been in the past.
This is NOT the first time that such a proposal has been made to
the Rec.Scouting community, but this is the first time that such
a broad-based amount of support both ways -- and interest both ways -- have
been given to this matter. This proposal also includes for the first time
inclusion of a WAGGGS-related group and a separate forum for the discussion
of those "topics which never seem to end", those topics dealing with issues
