Steve Conlon of Pack 43 in Mebane, NC ask whether Cubs on their first
camping trip should assist in meal preparation.
First, Welcome to Scouts-l. It is quite possible we have met in the past.
(see my temporarily expanded .sig file)
IMO, I see nothing wrong with the Cubs helping a bit with the meal
preparation. The problems that might arise is that this should be done,
IMO, by individual cub/parent(s) combination and may significantly lengthen
the time required for meal preparation. Also, the Cubs may not be too
willing to help with breakfast and possibly too busy with other things
(depending on what program you prepare) to help with lunch.
My personal opinion ("y'all" may find that mileage varies), is encourage the
parents to let their kids help with the meals. I wouldn't require it, but I
see nothing wrong with encouraging it.
