We have a 4 lane track & racing 41 cars this year. We bought a Electronic
Finisher this year.
1: Racing 4 cars at a time for 6 races - single elimination
2: Will produce 6 WINNERS that will go to the Finals
3. The FINALS Brackets will be Double Eliminations:
4. The Winners of Race 1,3,5 will race first (3 at a time) Bracket A then
Winners of Race 2,4,6 = Bracket B. This will produce 2 Winners with no losses
and 4 Non-Winners with 1 Lost;
5: These 4 Non-Winners will race in Pairs - 2 at a time.
Non-Winner of A against Non-Winner of B; the same for the Second part of this
Bracket; This will produce 2 cars with 1-1 record and 2 cars that will have
0-2 record and eliminated from the Finals which will raced against each other
to produce a 5th and 6th place finishers.
6. The next Race will be the 2 Winners that has 1 - 0 records in Bracket A
and Bracket B. This will produce 1 car that has 2-0 Record and the other 1-1.
7. The 3 Cars that has the 1-1 Record will race against each other ( 3 at a
time) . This will produce a winner of 2-1 and 2 cars that has 1-2 record
which are eliminated from the Finals.
8. These 2 cars 1-2 will race against each other to produce the 3rd and 4th
9. Now to determine the 1st & 2nd places - 1 car has a record of 2-0 and the
other 2-1. If the car with 2-1 record wins. This will produce these two cars
with a 2-1 record and 3-1 record respectively. This will produce another
Race to be against each other since this is a double elimination.
Yes - it's possible that the car with the 2-1 record could win the whole race
from the losing Brackets.
The lane assigments were draw the night of the Derby Weight-In (last Night)
which is about 5 days before the Derby Race itself(this Sunday) which will
give the Cubs extra time to make modification/add more weight or remove
Then the Day of the Derby the Cars are weight in again and put aside for the
Starts with EVEN then each race draw rotate, EVEN , ODD, EVEN, ODD, EVEN, ODD
for the First Cub Scout. Then the 2nd boy will draw starting with ODD etc.
Recorded on paper for the Placement of the cars on the CHART according to
the numbers drawn.
If anyone want this Final Double Elimination Chart that I mention above - if
anyone cares or doing this format - I have in it in a EXCEL 5.0 format.
Please send via Private Mail - Thank You.
I was planning on doing point verses Double ( running) but everyone on board
stated that it would be unfair to the all the boys.
This method will give everyone a fair shot.
If anyone wants to add comments on this method please send it to me via
Thanks Bill Williams - Pack 71 CM.
