>Al Lilianstrom had a simple question. "I received my first knot (Den
>Leader) at Blue and Gold last week and everyone I have asked is usure as
>to where exactly to place it on the shirt. Is it centered over the pocket
>or to one side?<
"The placement of the first knot is place above the left pocket. The order
is at the discretion of the wearer. It is suggested that the knot deemed
most important by the wearer be worn on his or her own right." A total of
three knots will fit across the top of the pocket. Your fourth knot starts
the second row.
Knots have a 'right side up'. The loop of the square knot that comes in
front of the standing part is always to the wearer's right. In knots that
have the same color a simple way to determine which way is up is to look at
the ends of the knot. One end is longer than the other. The longer end goes
to the wearer's right. In the event of the Award of Merit knot the ends
are facing down.
Obtain a current copy of the insignia control guide for additional help.
Congrats Al on your first recognition knot.
