Our pack would like to begin to improve our uniforming. We also need to
have a uniform inspection, which hasn't happened in a couple years.
1) How do you go about having a uniform inspection? When do you do it?
Who does it? Brass?
2) Is there some way to get a hold of some additional uniform shirts,
both blue and khakki (sp)? My DA runs our church clothing closet and gets
what she can but we have been recycling within the Pack for so long that
we are completely out. And we never seem to get the Webelos shirts
(probably because we haven't had any Webelos in 4 years). One of my Moms
was able to get her son a shirt at a Salvation Army in the Midwest (an
aunt lives there). I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll use dues
to get Bear neckerchiefs, pick up the Bear books and hope for
reimbursement so we can at least all start in the same place this year.
Last year it took two months to get uniforms and books. We've decided we
may raffle Cub Scout Belts at Pack Meetings because the other Wolf den
and I are going to combine forces this summer and do belt loop
activities. However, only 3 or 4 boys have belts.
3) What about hats? Is it ok to use the "Wolf" hat during the bear
year? At $8.10 apiece, I'd rather try to get the boys a belt,
neckerchief and proper shirt. We have no Pack policies regarding
uniforming. Then next year, we'd invest in Webelos hats.
Any other suggestions on how we can improve uniforming on a budget. For
most of the boys in the Pack, a $23 shirt would be the most expensive
piece of clothing they have.
