I am a Scout with Troop 77 in Westlake, Ohio. I am currently
planning a project to earn the Hornaday Award. I would like some
feedback from everybody, especially people around Lake Erie,
although not limited to this area. Here is my Proposal:
Project L.E.A.D. (Lake Erie Appreciation Day)
This would be a specific day in the future, probably in '98,
where any unit in a council that touches the shore of Lake Erie
in Ohio, Michigan, Penn., or New York that is willing to partici-
pate can join in. This will also in clude scouts in Canada from
Ontario if approved. We would go to public beaches or lake-front
parks and clean up the shore-line. This would be a lake wide
event so I want to include Canada. Any BSA scout, cub,
explorer, leader who participates would be eligable to earn
the International Activity Partch, and possible the new
Environmental Good-Turn Award. Thsi would take place at the all
in one day. There would be an event patch made for this activity.
I think you get the picture. I would like to know from all
of you if you live by Lake Erie if you know of any public
beaches that I can include. I need to finish up my plannig so
I can make a presentation to my Council Executive and his
committee. Also, I will like to hear any comments or advice.
Thabnks alot, and I hope to hear from you soon.
