To Charlie Thorpe and all:
I must vehemently agree with Charlie, and I mean that!
While the CoH is an Individual thing, it too must fit into the scheme of
things and peoples lives, schedules etc.
I also feel that sharing a CoH with another boy should be seen an an honor
and not a shadowing of one's own accomplishments. The good deeds of both
or however many boys are on the podium reflect on all Eagles; not just the
one boy. We always hold that when a boy becomes an Eagle he has joined an
elite group of Scouts. What better way to celebrate that event than with
another new Eagle?
At a recent CoH for Barry Sharek the Eagles present were asked to stand
at two points during the ceremonies. At one point during the Eagle Charge
we were asked to come to the stage and provide a protective nest for the
new Eagle. It was very gratifying to take part in that moment and having
some dozen or so other Eagles around him took nothing away from Barry's
ceremony; if anything it hightened the dramatic effect and made him
feel a part of something very special as were also the first one's to
congratulate the new Eagle.
