I don't agree with this Ed. I feel that the scouts should be encouraged
to visit several troops in the area and pick the one that best suits
them. Of course, this should be done with the entire den.
Granted they might join a troop because of a friend or relative. They
might even join a troop because of its program. Let the boys and parents
decide which troop is best for them.
If the troop that is with the same organization has a good program, the
boys will probably go with them. They have probably already worked with
the troop and have gotten to know the other scouts in the troop.
